British Armed Forces Sites to House Refugee Applicants in Effort to Cease Hotel-Based Use
Several hundred refugee applicants could be placed in armed forces facilities as the authorities seeks to end the use of temporary lodging.
Talks are underway regarding the use of two facilities - a facility in the Scottish region and a second in the southern England - for shelter for 900 male individuals.
The Prime Minister has ordered Interior Ministry and Military Ministry representatives to speed up initiatives to locate proper armed forces locations.
The government has committed to eliminate the operation of asylum hotels, which have required billions of pounds and turned into a focal point for immigration opposition demonstrations.
Under Consideration Military Facilities
Individuals might be housed in the Inverness barracks in Highland region and Crowborough military training facility in the southern county by the conclusion of the coming month.
Manufacturing locations, short-term shelter and previously unused facilities are also being considered for future accommodation.
Authorities Commitments
Administration officials indicated that each location would adhere to safety regulations.
"The government remains extremely concerned at the extent of illegal migrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"This government will terminate each temporary accommodation facility. Efforts are well underway, with more suitable sites being brought forward to ease pressure on resident populations and decrease refugee accommodation expenses."
Current Accommodation Statistics
Approximately thirty-two thousand asylum seekers are currently being housed in hotels, representing a reduction from a high point of more than 56 thousand in the previous year.
A recent report found that multiple billions of taxpayers' money had been "wasted" on asylum accommodation.
Previous Defense Facility Usage
Two previous defense facilities - former RAF base in the eastern county and Napier Barracks in southeastern England - are already being utilized to accommodate refugee applicants after being opened under the previous administration.
The administration head stated on the situation, indicating: "The government is committed to close all asylum hotels. It's difficult to express how frustrated and angry we are that we inherited a challenge as substantial as this by the former leadership."
